Description
Tim Curry sings "Baby Love" b/w "Just Fourteen" on Ode Records (Ode 66117). Released in 1976. This single was Curry's debut record, and it was meant to be the first of a much larger project with producer Lou Adler. The single eventually ended up on the now out-of-print "Songs From the Vault" compilation, a collection of Rocky Horror Picture Show related songs on Rhino Records. It is pointed out by serious and informed Beach Boys collectors that very few stock copies exist (double-sided promos of "Baby Love" are common). I stumbled upon a copy recently, and gave a good listen to the much talked about flip, "Just Fourteen” and really enjoyed it. Background chorus features the unmistakable vocals of Brian Wilson, who is backed up by Spring (ex-Honeys singers Marilyn Wilson and Diane Rovell). They have some pretty clever lines about a child superstar who is “nice to her driver” because she always asks him "have you had your supper yet?" Brian really stands out on lines like "So pleased…to discover.” This is a funky seventies rocker and features lead vocals by Curry (who gives is own, unique Frankenfurter-y delivery). Great song!
This record is in EX condition. Labels are clean, with no writing, stickers, or tears. The A side label has very, very minor damage (see photo). Both side of the vinyl have high gloss and no scuffs. Beautiful copy!
