Description
BRIX Radio Alarm / Tele Addict – 7” vinyl single release on Marco Records (an SRT pressing) from 1983 (FMR074 / S83 CUS 1793).
You are bidding for an original UK pressing of this fabulous Powerpop / New Wave single by Brix a six piece band active in North Lincolnshire during the early 1980’s. The bands one and only single recorded at Fairview Studios Hull, was released in 1983 shortly after the band won the local Battle of the Bands completion. Both sides of this single should appear to collectors, but ‘Tele Addict’ which starts with the opening bars of the Crossroads theme tune is to my ears a lost gem !
Visually this copy has three very light scratch marks on the Tele Addicts side, and a few other minor surface marks, but I would still grade it visually as Ex-.
Playing the single reveals some light background noise during the run in and out of each side, a few crackles during the first few revolutions of Tele Addict (but so has my own copy) and the occasional click or pop. When on the turntable, the vinyl also reveals a slight edge warp but nothing which affects play in any way. Overall then I would also give an Ex- grading for sound quality.
The labels are nice and clean with no defects to mention.
The band biography on the excellent Bored Teenagers website states that a picture sleeve was designed for the single, but neither of the copies I have been fortunate enough to come by, or the photos on the site give any evidence that sleeved copies were actually released, so you may be waiting a very long time for a copy with one.
Overall then I would grade this excellent single as Vg+ (Vinyl/), downgraded due to the slight edge warp.
