Borns’ latest, Blue Madonna, showcases the artist doing what he does best: crafting polished pop gems with a slight edge of danger. Lana Del Rey makes an excellent star turn on “God Save Our Young Blood,” a duet that’s fittingly melancholy, dreamy, and addictive. The rest of the album is equally appealing, with Borns creating evocative and immersive soundscapes with delicious, intriguing lyrics. The pop world is a weirder place for having Borns in it — and that’s a good thing.
