Description
Broadside (Folkways) 301, “Introducing Broadside: A Handful of Songs about Our Times”, with Pete Seeger, The New World Singers, “Blind Boy Grunt (aka Bob Dylan), Peter La Farge, Phil Ochs, Gil Turner, Happy Traum, the Freedom Singers, Matt McGinn, and Mark Spoelstra, from 1963. This is an original issue with heavy Folkways-type jacket with a cardboard insert and descriptive booklet with lyrics, and is a superb topical LP from the 60s with 15 excellent tracks commenting on issues of the day, especially civil rights. The LP plays at close to NM with minor occasional static. The jacket is about like new except for slight age toning along the spine: there is no seamwear, corner wear, or bends; there is a small price code on back cover at lower right. Tracks include “Blowin’ in the Wind” (New World Singers), “Ballad of Old Monroe” (Seeger), “Jon Brown” (Grunt), “As Long as the Grass Shall Grow” (LaFarge), “William Worthy” (Ochs), “Benny Kid Paret” (Turner), “Faubus’ Follies” (LaFarge), “I Will Not Go Down Under the Ground” (Traum), “Only a Hobo” and “Talkin’ Devil” (Grunt), “Ain’t Gonna Let Segregation Turn Me ‘Round” (Freedom Singers), “Go Limp” (McGinn), “Business Ain’t Dead” (New World Singers), “The Civil Defense Sign” (Spoelstra), and “I Can See a New Day” (New World Singers). Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $14.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia; elsewhere inquire. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 per LP domestic, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, I strongly recommend registered mail for $11.75 extra. (Last year, a package to the Netherlands was lost in shipment, resulting in disappointment on both sides.) Many old records are now practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs will be mailed together in a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped.
