RECORD GRADING SYSTEM:  All Records are VISUALLY GRADED only.  VISUAL GRADING of records is determined as follows:

MINT CONDITION (M):  Truly "As New", as it was when it left the factory.  No scratches, scuffs, flaws, defects, marks or other indications of being handled.  Records that are Still Sealed in their original factory wrapping are considered to be in this category.  (Please Note: Most records prior to the mid 1960s were NOT wrapped by the factory when new, so "Still New", Mint items from before that time can be without wrapping.)

NEAR MINT (NM):  Vinyl is virtually flawless, very bright and shiny. Still no scuffs or scratches but may have been played (very sparingly).  The disc will play with no audible noise. The label is bright, clean and unmarked. 

EXCELLENT (EXC):  May have 1-4 very minor, barely visible scuffs (such as from brushing of a fingernail or contact with the inner sleeve), possibly a hairline scratch or two; nothing that is obvious or would be expected to affect play. Vinyl is bright and shiny, label is clean and unmarked.  

VERY GOOD (VG):  Some visible surface wear, such as very minor scratches or scuffs. Vinyl will still have good luster; labels may have minor imperfections (small stickers or initials, etc.) but otherwise clean.  

GOOD (G):  Vinyl will have noticeable scratches or scuffs that would likely cause minor surface noise, but do not overpower the music. There will be no skips. Vinyl may appear somewhat dull and grayish. Labels may have small tears, tape marks, larger writing, etc. but still easily legible. There may be minor wear at the spindle hole. 

FAIR (F):  Well-played, dull, grayish vinyl with deeper scratches and wear causing various surface noises.  The record will still play through without any skips. Labels may be defaced or damaged.

45 RPM LABEL GRADES: 

MINT (M):  Absolutely flawless; no dings, marks, tears, dents, fading, discoloration or other flaws.  

NEAR MINT (NM):  Very minor signs of wear; none that interfere with the integrity of the Artwork. 

EXCELLENT (EXC):  Possibly some very light soiling or fading ("rubbing") or very light spindle wear.  No wrinkles, puckers or writing.  Artwork is clean and unworn and there is no ink wear. 

VERY GOOD (VG):  Clean but may have minor writing or marks, show slight wear or more noticeable spindle wear.  Ink may be wearing just a bit.  There may be slight discoloration or staining, no splits or tears.   

GOOD (G):  Somewhat worn and used.  Any tears may be repaired with clear tape.  Artwork is still attractive.  There may be some discoloration and there may be larger writing, stickers or other marks.  May have some minor to moderate scratches or gouges. 

FAIR (F):  Several (but not all) of the following flaws will apply: Larger, very obtrusive pen/marker writing, significant wear, damaged edges, tears, cuts, gouges, masking or other tape seam repairs, or other flaws and damage.
