EXTREMELY RARE OPPORTUNITY
LEONARD HUNGERFORD, pianist in honor of CARL FRIEDBURG
New York Town Hall Wednesday Evening 26th October 1955
Born Leonard Hungerford, changed his name to Bruce in 1958
Recorded Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, and Chopin for the Vanguard label as Bruce Hungerford from 1967 until his tragic death in a car accident in 1977
Mr. Hungerford personally produced LH 107 a private LP recording of his own playing at a recital at New York Town Hall on Wednesday Evening October 26th 1955 in memory of his teacher Carl Friedberg who died a couple weeks prior to this performance
According to Mr. Manildi, curator of the International Piano Archives at Maryland (IPAM) these were never commercially available, but were circulated in limited quantities to various concert managers and musical colleagues.  He also distributed copies to other Friedberg pupils and friends as well as to recital attendees.

Before the final performance ( Bach - Jesu Joy of Man's Desire) Mr. Hungerford stands and gives a very heartfelt speech and asks everyone to stand in honor of Carl Friedberg for the final performance.
I am also including with this auction an original Town Hall Program from the performance that evening - recently purchased from another member who had acquired some items from Mr. Hungerford's sisters estate.  I thought it would be a nice addition to this piece of history

The vinyl is bright and glossy but does have some scratches

Buy with confidence.  Part of a very nice collection from the 1950's and 1960's of which 90% of the vinyl is in near mint condition.  Sleeve conditions vary. I don't typically grade records but I will do my best, I do have a large collection and I AM VERY PARTICULAR ABOUT SOUND QUALITY, not so much on condition of sleeves.  I will do my best to describe any imperfections.  If I have play tested I will describe in listing, or if you would like me to play test something just send me a message and I will do so
