Description
Columbia Records CL 2057 original "2 eye" mono white label promo from 1963. This is really an oddity in the the early 1960's music catalogue. Sure, on the surface it may appear as just another throwaway album, but a closer listen reveals that this was waaaaaaay ahead of it's time. This album uncannily predicts the type of music to come in the next few decades ('Virginia Beach' - the hard fuzz rock of the late 1960's/'Malibu' - the disco beats of the 1970's -complete with cowbell.../ 'Biarritz' - and even the brass of the 1980's). Just listen to the synthesizer in 'Biarrritz' or the crazy fuzz/wah pedals mixed with the huge brass shots on 'Virginia Beach' - very disco sounding. It is definitely one of the first albums to utilize synthesizers and guitar pedals. If you didn't know better you'd place the date somewhere between 1968-1974. It rocks harder than anything else from that era - just listen to tracks like 'Jersey Channel Islands (Part 7)' which sounds like something straight out of the 1980's - the closest thing to hard-rock from this period. The cover is very nice at VG+(+) to VG++. The vinyl has small marks that keep it from being VG++. Side 1 visually, is VG+ & Side 2 is VG+(+). Plays, however, with minimal noise & overall, plays well.
