Description
This is one of a series of rare or sealed LPs and EPs that I will be listing over the next several weeks. This item is a still-sealed and mint pressing of The Ghost of Tom Joad by Bruce Springsteen, released on Columbia Records in 1995. Springsteen was born and raised in a town near the shore in New Jersey, Freehold, and played in a number of local bands while in high school and during a very brief college stint. Bruce then went on to begin playing local clubs in and around Asbury Park, New Jersey, and eventually garnered an audition for Columbia Records in New York City in the early 1970s. Springsteen signed on with Columbia Records, and released his first album in 1973. This album is his second solo and acoustic album (the first, Nebraska, was released in 1983) and it is filled with some very dark, stark songs. Of these two, I prefer Nebraska but live, I think that the songs from this album – particularly the title track and Youngstown – really outshine everything on Nebraska. This album is somewhat rare, again because of the very few vinyl LPs pressed in the timeframe of its release.
As noted above, this album is in still-sealed and mint condition, as shown in the photo.
I do not use stock pictures. The photo shows the actual item up for auction.
I am not a dealer, and all of the items I place up for bid are from my personal collection amassed over the past thirty-five years (we have college expenses looming on the horizon for the kiddies...). Shipping and handling is $4.00 for 1 record, and an additional .35 for media mail shipping for each record after that (based on the weight of the number of records, not the number of titles). Given recent experience with delays in delivery by media mail, I would strongly recommend instead that the items be sent by priority mail. The cost of priority mail varies by weight and distance, but is sometimes quite a few dollars more than the cost of media mail. I will also quote rates for fedex ground whenever the package reaches about five pounds, as it is more economical than priority mail. I can provide a fairly accurate quote prior to or upon the completion of the auction by e-mail, should you consider that option. Insurance is available upon request for domestic purchases, at an additional cost equal to the amount charged by the USPS ($1.65 for up to $50.00 of value, $2.05 for up to $100.00 of value). If you are overseas or in Canada, please contact me regarding shipping and handling rates, and methods of payment. Surface mail is no longer available through the USPS, so I would strongly recommend Priority Mail or Express Mail International as opposed to private couriers. Please check out my other auctions and items – if you should win more than one of my auctions, I will combine the shipping at noted above. My preference is payment by paypal. If you do not wish to pay online, my preference would be U.S. Postal Service money orders, bank checks, bank or other money orders, or by personal check drawn on a domestic bank in U.S. Dollars (if more than 50 positive feedback entries, and personal checks must clear before item is shipped). I must receive payment for each item within twenty (20) days of the end of the auction; if payment is not received within that time period, I will consider the auction results void and relist the item(s) for auction. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail through eBay or at makjr33@hotmail.com.
