BUD POWELL “Bud!” Blue Note 1571, RVG, 9M, DG, P, LAM, Mono Vinyl
This is the first edition, 1957, “RVG” etched, “9M,” Deep Groove, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of BUD POWELL’s “Bud” (aka “The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 3: Bud!”) on the "47 West 63rd" labels of Blue Note BLP 1571. Musicians include Bud Powell, Curtis Fuller, Paul Chambers, Art Taylor.
VINYL plays with low level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments) with occasional ticks or pops (some repeating), but the instruments are very dynamic, clear and strong with clean transients, solid bass frequencies and full tone. No distortion. No skips. Handful of hairline marks, two 1” marks feelable. Both sides have very good gloss. See photos. As with all first pressing Blue Note discs, the powerfully recorded and performed music overcomes imperfections. The Deep Groove “47 West 63rd" labels are clean with spindle marks. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in good shape, beautiful colors. Top and bottom seams taped, and two inches at each end of spine also taped. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 47 West 63rd St, New York 23” back jacket shows some aging, stains, sticker, inked “MJS”, wear. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
