WILLIAM HOLDEN/BUDDY CLARK: Wait Til the Sun Shines Nellie/In the Gloaming/Just a Song at Twilight/Love's Old Sweet Song/Me and My Dream/brief accordion instrumental. Non-singer William Holden needed to be dubbed for the 1950 film, FATHER IS A BACHELOR. Popular singer Buddy Clark provided the rich singing voice, as he had done for films several times before. These two 12-inch lacquers were from William Holden's personal collection and contain the raw Buddy vocals with accordion accompaniment for William to practice lipsynching to. I assume Holden had to mime playing the accordion, too! The discs have the date 8-25-49 written in china marker, which is, I assume, the date they were recorded or cut. Sadly, Buddy died in a plane crash a little more than a month later and the film was released in February 1950, making this a posthumous release! Both discs in clean, excellent condition.
