THIS MEGA RARE EP IS BY BUDDY HOLLY AND IS CALLED 'COME BACK BABY'

AND WAS ISSUED HERE IN AUSTRALIA AS A TEST PRESSING ON THE 8TH JANUARY 1965 ON THE BEIGE DOT LABEL ZX-10928

YES, YOU READ RIGHT, THAT IS WHAT THE TEST PRESSING OF THIS EP SAYS ON THE LABEL.

IT SHOULD OF COURSE BE CX-10928 ON THE PURPLE AND WHITE  CORAL LABEL.

I PICKED THIS UP MANY YEARS AGO STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT WHY THIS TEST PRESSING  HAS THE DOT LABEL AND DOT CATALOGUE NUMBER (AND A NAME JOHN T SHEPPARD ON IT)

THE TRACKS ARE:

COME BACK BABY, BLUE SUEDE SHOES, UMMM OH YEAH AND YOU'RE THE ONE.

THE LABEL SAYS ONE TRACK IS COME HOME BUT SHOULD BE UMMM OH YEAH.

HIGHLY UNUSUAL THIS EP IN THE ANNLAS OF HOLLYS AUSTRALIAN RELEASES.

THE SLEEVE IS IN VG++ CONDITION. HAS SOME RW ON FRONT AND VERY SLIGHT ON THE BACK FLIP.

THE LABELS ARE UNUSUAL TO SAY THE LEAST AS REMEMBER IT IS A BEIGE LABEL TEST PRESSING.

THE RECORD IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. ONE SURFACE MARK ON SIDE ONE. 

THE RECORD PLAYS LOUD AND CLEAR.

LP records will be assessed on an individual basis depending on the country to be sent to.

For grading purposes I play side one only of an EP or 45 (mainly the ‘A’ side) and a few tracks on side one of an LP.

I also grade records on a perceived appearance basis. I then combine them (playing and appearance) for an overall grading. I believe this to be the most effective way of grading records. Some records can look ordinary but they play well and vikky vika. All vinyl listed on auction has been cleaned, played and visually inspected so that you may bid with confidence. Albums (LPs) and Extended Plays (EPs) are sent with the record outside of the cover and placed in an outer plastic sleeve (to prevent ring-wear) before safely packed.

Where required, the sleeves have been cleaned with a secret formula to eradicate as much ring-wear and built up dirt as possible.

I use the English Record Collectors Magazine Guidelines for gradings as this appears to be the generally accepted term of reference with variances to + or minus. Below are grading scales.                                                              

GRADING DEFINITIONS FROM THE ENGLISH RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just about playable, but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
