Description
THE "CHIRPING" CRICKETS EP ON BRUNSWICK. THIS WAS THEIR FIRST RELEASE ON THE BRUNSWICK LABEL. GREAT SOUND QUALITY - NO SEAM SPLITS, NO WRITING, VIVID FRONT COVER COLORS AND NO STAINS. THE PHOTOS SHOULD GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF THE COVER CONDITION WHICH I WOULD GRADE AS A STRONG VG+.
THE VINYL RATES A SOLID VG+. THERE ARE NO SKIPS OR TICKS AND BACKGROUND NOISE IS MINIMAL. THE VINYL FLAWS ARE MINOR - THE BACKGROUND NOISE IS MOSTLY NOTICEABLE BETWEEN SONGS AND NOT DISTRACTING WHEN THE MUSIC IS PLAYING.
THE LABELS WOULD BE NM EXCEPT FOR A RED BLEMISH AND NUMBER STICKER ON ONE SIDE - I'M NOT SURE IF THE BLEMISH IS A FACTORY DEFECT BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IT. BECAUSE OF THE 2 FLAWS MENTIONED, THE ACTUAL LABEL GRADE IS CLOSER TO VG+
The songs are Side 1: That'll Be The Day, I'm Lookin' For Someone To Love and Side 2: Oh Boy! Not Fade Away.
An interesting note, the writing credit for Not Fade Away is Norman Petty and Charles Hardin. "Charles" is the given name of Buddy Holly and this is one of the few instances where the song was credited to his given name.
The cover flaws are relatively minor and I've tried to highlight them in the photos. Photo #3 shows some scuffing on the lower right side of the cover. It also shows the clarity of the "Printed in U.S. A." I took a photo of the spine to show there is a tiny bit of scuffing but it is fully intact. The only other flaw is a tiny white spot on the front cover which may be a factroy issue since it feels like a bump.
The trail-off area of Side 1 has a stamp of "1 - 2" and the designation "S3870 1" in a raised stamp. On Side 2 the only stamp is "S3871 2."
All in all, this is a great example of a rare EP that is difficult to find in this condition. I will not ship this overseas so please don't ask. The last time I listed this item the high bidder was not in the U.S. so I have re-listed the item. Overseas bidders, please do not bid unless you have a U.S. "ship to" address.
