Description
Original 1950s Buddy Holly and The Crickets LP entitled, "The 'Chirping' Crickets." This is on the Brunswick label BL-54038 and it is, of course, pressed in fabulous MONO. Labels are black with silver print and are deep-grooved. This has the textured front cover which is generally considered to be the very first pressing. Both the record and cover are in clean VG condition. The record has full gloss and only some normal scuffs and scratches from past use. Nothing bad at all. I played this with my "industry standard" Stanton stylus (tracked at 1.5 grams) and both sides played through very pleasantly with minimal distraction. No bad hiss or worn out grooves, no loud or prolonged clicks, and no skips. Labels show some light spindle swirls but no gouges or paper loss. The cover is quite clean and attractive as well. Just some minor age-spotting along the top edge of the front, a partially split top seam and a three-inch split in the bottom right; both are clean splits. The spine has no splits at all and all print is fully-intact and legible. The back is still quite white and attractive. No writing or creases or other serious damage. I obtained this LP from the original owner who played it but took pretty good care of it otherwise through the years. One of the very best, early Rock LPs without question!!
