Description

I HEAR YOU SAYING HERE WE GO! THE SAME OLD RECORD! WRONG! PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY!

THIS LP IS BY BUDDY HOLLY AND THE THREE TUNES AND FEATURES BUDDY HOLLY AS THE LEAD SINGER.

BACK UP PLAYERS WERE GRADY MARTIN ETC.

THE TRACKS WERE ALL RECORDED IN NASHVILLE TENNESSE LONG BEFORE HOLLY BECAME FAMOUS WORLDWIDE.

THIS LP WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED HERE IN AUSTRALIA ON THE FOLLOWING:

'THE EARLY BUDDY HOLLY' ON DARK BLUE FESTIVAL LABEL FL-7112 22ND OCTOBER 1959 THEN

'THE EARLY BUDDY HOLLY' ON DARK BLUE FESTIVAL LABEL FL-30280 THEN

'THAT'LL BE THE DAY' ON LIGHT BLUE AND SILVER FESTIVAL FL-31067 ON 4TH AUGUST 1963 THEN THIS ONE

'THAT'LL BE THE DAY' ON LIGHT BLUE DECCA DL-31067 DATE UNKNOWN.

I RECALL A CERTAIN PERSON IN MELBOURNE SAYING THIS LP DID NOT EXIST. WELL FOLKS HERE IT IS, THE ONLY DECCA LP OF BUDDY HOLLY RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA.

PLEASE REFER THE SECOND SCAN FOR THE DECCA NUMBER ON THE LABEL AND THE BACK OF THE SLEEVE ALSO HAS THE NUMBER DL-31067. THIS IS THE ONLY COPY I HAVE EVER SEEN IN ALL MY YEARS OF COLLECTING HOLLY.

THE TRACKS ARE:

YOU ARE MY ONE DESIRE, BLUE DAYS BLACK NIGHTS, MODERN  DON JUAN, ROCK AROUND WITH OLLIE VEE, GIRL ON MY MIND, THAT'LL BE THE DAY, LOVE ME, I'M CHANGING ALL THOSE CHANGES, DON'T COME BACK KNOCKING AND MIDNIGHT SHIFT.

THE SLEEVE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION ON THE FRONT BUT HAS SRW. HAS A TINY TEAR ON THE TRHC. THE BACK HAS SIGNS OF AGEING BUT IT IS A COPY. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THIS COVER IS RARE.

THE LABELS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR.

THE RECORD IS IN VERY GOOD+ CONDITION (REFER BELOW FOR FULL DESCRIPTION)

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played quite a few times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite minor surface marks, and the odd light scratch and/or surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE

Where required, the sleeves have been cleaned with a secret formula to eradicate as much ring-wear and built up dirt as possible.

My Postage and Handling fees include $1.40 for a quality padded bag purchased from the Post Office for 45’s and EP’S. Plus, $1.50 proper fold over pack for LP’S, so please take this into account when you are leaving feedback for Postal Charges. Also if I am selling an LP, charges will vary from region to region.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

If you win a record in one of my auctions that I have graded as VG this will not mean after I post said record, that it will UPGRADE itself to Minus Mint during the journey to your destination. If I have a minimum bid of say $29.95 that is all I expect to receive for the item BUT if you end up bidding $164.95 (which would be well over the minimum price I commenced with) that was your choice to pay that! Not Mine! Please take responsibility for your own actions on the original grading!

Do not make me your target for Buyers Remorse.

For grading purposes I play side one only of an EP or 45 (mainly the ‘A’ side) and a few tracks on side one of an LP and/or as long as it takes me to put the item on. The remainder of the grading is perceived visual.

I grade records on a perceived appearance/playing basis. I combine them (playing and appearance) for an overall grading. This means that the record may be Excellent but the cover VG+ but I will grade the overall as Vg++. I believe this to be the most effective way of grading both the record and the sleeve as a combined unit. Some records can look ordinary but they play well and vikky vika.

If unhappy (with a legitimate reason) with my product in any way, please contact me using any of the below:

I am only talking legitimate reasons here.

PLEASE NOTE

I use the English Record Collectors Magazine for grading guidelines.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks, the occasional click and the odd light scratch and/or surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading. Grading can be very subjective. Some sellers are very liberal with their grading, whereby, others like me, are very hard. I look at the vinyl, grade it then drop it by one grade. It has served me well for many years. Refer my feedback.
