Description
Up for auction is Buddy Holly "The 'Chirping' Crickets" LP. Brunswick Records BL 54038. (1957). Mono. The front of the album cover is textured. This is the original pressing from 1957. This is the copy with the liner notes on the back that shows Bullock, Texas rather than Lubbock, Texas as the hometown for Joe Maudlin (also misspelled). There are twelve songs on the album. The songs included are:
- Oh, Boy!
- Not Fade Away
- You've Got Love
- Maybe Baby
- It's Too Late
- Tell Me How
- That'll Be the Day
- I'm Lookin' For Someone To Love
- An Empty Cup (And A Broken Date)
- Send Me Some Lovin'
- Last Night
- Rock Me My Baby
The album cover is a strong VG or better. It does not have shrink wrap. There is light scuffing on both sides of the cover. The back cover has some soiling and staining. The seams, corners and opening show wear. Each seam has a small piece of tape on it. They aren't visible at first glance. The corners are lightly crumpled and the opening shows light wear. The lower spine corner is creased.
The record is VG. The labels are the original black with silver writing. The labels show extremely light wear. There are spindle marks on the labels. The record plays all the way through with background noise, but no skips.
My rating chart for records is similar to that of Goldmine grading.
NM (Near Mint) A nearly perfect record. No marks, sometimes never played. A picture sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. This is a grade I seldom, if ever, use. Sleeves can be wrinkled and records scuffed right from the record store.
VG++ (Very Good++) Record will show some very light scratches or scuffs which shouldn't be audible when played. The picture sleeve will show some ring wear and possibly lightly turned up corners or slight seam splits.
VG+ (Very Good+) Record will show more scratches and scuffs than a VG++ rating. It will play with some audible noise from these marks. Labels may be marred or have stickers or residue from stickers. The same will be true of the picture sleeve.
VG (Very Good) Record will be well worn and audible noise will be more noticeable from scratches and scuffs. Labels and picture sleeves will be marred or have stickers or residue from stickers.
