Another from my personal collection! Earliest ever 1st UK pressing of the awesome heavy rock band Bugie's 1st/ debut album,1971! Features the earliest matrix endings '-1L' and '-1L' also features the earliest mothers ''1'' to ''1'' mother stampers! The vinyl has barely everbeen played and the vinyl's playing surface is immaculate in my opinion! The audio is the best that I have ever heard of this pressing graded at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion! Very rarely seen like this after 40 years! The cover is also in exceptional condition for its age graded at least excellent. Cristal clear and vibrant absolutely stunning top audio on this earliest pressing, highly sought after and collectable like this!

Budgie is a Welsh hard rock/heavy metal band from Cardiff. They are widely considered as one of the first heavy metal bands and a seminal influence to many acts of that scene, with fast, heavy rock (an influence on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and such acts as Metallica) being played as early as 1971. The band has been noted as "among the heaviest metal of its day". Notable Budgie songs include "Breadfan", "Crash Course In Brain Surgery", "Parents", "I Turned To Stone" and "Napoleon Bona - Parts 1 & 2".

Budgie formed in 1967 in Cardiff, Wales under the name Hills Contemporary Grass. Their original line-up consisted of Burke Shelley (b. John Burke Shelley, 10 April 1947, Tiger Bay, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales) on vocals and bass, Tony Bourge (b. Anthony James Bourge, 24 November 1948, Tiger Bay, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, South Wales) on guitar and vocals, and Ray Phillips (b. Raymond John Phillips, 1 March 1949, Ely, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, South Wales) on drums. After performing several gigs in 1968, the band changed their name to Budgie the following year and recorded their first demo. The band originally formed under such names as Hills Contemporary Grass and Six Ton Budgie. Burke Shelley has said that the band's name came from the fact that he, "loved the idea of playing noisy, heavy rock, but calling ourselves after something diametrically opposed to that".

Their debut album in strong blues oriented hard rock lines was recorded at Rockfield Studios with Black Sabbath producer Rodger Bain and released in 1971, followed by Squawk in 1972. The third album, Never Turn Your Back On a Friend (1973), contained "Breadfan", which was covered by Metallica in 1988, the band having covered another Budgie song, "Crash Course In Brain Surgery" earlier in their career. Ray Philips left the band before the fourth album In for the Kill was recorded and was replaced by Pete Boot (b. Peter Charles Boot, 30 September 1950, West Bromwich, Staffordshire)

Budgie is the debut album of British hard rock band Budgie. It was released in June 1971 through MCA Records. The US version on Kapp Records includes "Crash Course in Brain Surgery", originally released as a single and covered by Metallica on their 1987 EP Garage Days Re-Revisited. "Homicidal Suicidal" has also been covered by the Seattle grunge band Soundgarden. Canadian band Thrush Hermit covered "Nude Disintegrating Parachutist Woman" on the album All Technology Aside, included on the 2010 "The Complete Recordings Box Set". The opening track "Guts" as well as "Homicidal Suicidal" can be seen as precursors to doom metal.

The vinyl

Super thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!

On initial inspection the playing surface looks awesome! I can hardly see a blemish at all. Still retains its original sheen from new! Only in strong light can possibly any (very few) light whispy surface marks possibly be seen, mainly sleeve removal only (non) audio sounding that i heard!

The Audio Quality

 I have played this through track for track prior to listing! The audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies! it is awesome! (no) distortion or any signs of any grooveware at all! I heard no loud clicks or pops and more importantly i heard no major background noise  so common on these early pressings any isolated static/tick heard is very minimal indeed ! This plays almost perfect on my system! Audio grades at least excellent plus to near mint!

Please note I always add this disclaimer!Please allow for the odd isolated static\crackle or tick here and there  (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 37 year old system! THIS IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP! ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!

Please note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks. A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

You will be hard pressed to find a better sounding original!

The Labels

Earliest Red/Pink MCA labels . When angled to the light barely a handful of  spider marks be seen around the spindle hole! This has this has not been overplayed and in my opinion has only ever been played a handful of times ever! (no) spindle ware (the spindle hole is perfectly round)

The Record Sleeve

This is a Stereo Decca sleeve (no) splits or tares just light creasing with age only ! Nice and clean.

The Cover

This is the original EARLIEST 1ST PRESS/1ST ISSUE laminated front only MCA cover in superbe condition throughout! Please note!  (NO) splits or tares. Super glossy appearence with miinor ringware only noticed if looked for angled to the light. There are light laminate creases to mention one at the top right corner and minor near the spine, neither protrude to the rear which has no real creases to talk of.  This is strong and straight and the original! (ONLY 1ST PRESS) writing can be read clearly! Graded at least excellent!
