Budgie : If I Were Britannia I'd Waive The Rules A2/B2 1st Press
This first pressing plays to a superb standard with no clicks, pops or static. The clarity cannot be faulted and it easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE pressing i.e. you could not improve on this audio.
As this is a genuine first press 'Britannia' is misspelt as 'Brittania' on the front cover and on the tracklisting on the back. It is correct on the labels.
The cover is in great condition with hardly any shelf wear and has retained its original shape extremely well. The die-cut inner is also in excellent shape.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an impressive glossy sheen. There are no marks or scratches and only some very faint sleeve removal hairlines on each side. The run out grooves have no marks and the labels are also very clean with only some spindle wear but not an excessive amount.
Play grading
The lead in on S1 has a couple of static ticks but once 'Anne Neggen' begins the clarity and power of the audio is faultless and it continues in the same precise way. From start to finish there is no interference and Mint is an honest appraisal of the audio.
The deep intro on 'If I Were Britannia I'd Waive The Rules' plays perfectly and Shelley's first vocal is equally as strong. From then on it plays with no ticks, clicks, pops or static and Mint is again very much deserved. Not just some random playing of a few grooves I have played the track in full as per usual. The clarity is 'as new' including the fade out also.
'You're Opening Doors' has just one very light tick on the intro and then plays with superb audio. I detected only two other minor ticks and the clarity is nigh on perfect. There is no underlying static and whilst their new found 'funk' may not have met with universal approval this is undeniably a Mint- version.
The intro on 'Quacktors And Bureaucats' has no 'background' and continues to play with a clarity, depth and warmth that is second to none. No need to elaborate this is a Mint finish to the side.

'Sky High Percentage' has 1/2 seconds of barely audible static on the intro and then plays as you would want it to! With audio so precise and clean and with no intrusion. A couple of dust ticks maybe but your head has to be up against the speakers in order to hear them! This is Mint- although I am sure many would say the minus is not required.
The acoustic intro on 'Heaven Knows Our Name' has no 'background' and thereafter plays with sublime clarity and precision. It might be 45 years old but this album is certainly not playing like it! Again there are no clicks, pops or static and only a couple of super quiet ticks. Mint-
The 'tolling' bell intro on 'Black Velvet Stallion' is flawless and the first verse has just one static tick which is a little more audible, not intrusive though. From then on it plays with superlative audio which is impressive when you consider how many quiet sections there are. Bourge's long final solo is stunning with no distortion on the top end and the 'high octane' finale has just one tick right at the end of the fade out. A Mint- version if ever there was.
In summary this first pressing plays to a superb standard with no interference, not one click or pop! The audio definition is 'high end' throughout and whilst this may not be up to their standard of their earlier releases there is no denying the sonic quality on offer here. A FINAL UPGRADE album of that I have no doubt.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover has been looked after so well and has barely any wear. The top edge has no rubbing and the bottom edge only a minimal amount and the spine is in near perfect condition with no real wear on the corners. The right hand corners are also super clean and the only wear is on the opening edge which has a little 'crimping' on the edge of the back cover over 8 cms, it is only a minor thing and not immediately noticeable. The front cover is unmarked and has only one minor ringwear 'fade' near the bottom edge and the back cover is in superb condition also. A fine example overall.
The original plain white die-cut inner is in excellent condition with no side splits or marking and only minimal creasing.
