Condition Vinyl EX++/Sleeve EX
This is the VERY RARE Original `THICK VINYL` 1st issue UK pressing on the Blue/Black MCA Label in single sleeve - Matrix/Run out groove 7-LNMG-261-1L/7-LNMG 262-1L - mother stampers 1U/1K
Rarity - Absolutely! very difficult to find this one on the Blue/Black label 1st issue `Thick` vinyl. This was the 2nd LP release by this welsh power rock trio & never sold at all making this very obscure, not only a 1st Issue but a very early pressing just look at the early mother stampers, together with a great vinyl making this a serious rarity!!
Vinyl - Nice THICK Vinyl (as you would expect on a 1st issue 71 pressing), Great Condition plays FAB with strong definition and clarity - No scratches visible at all in normal light - on closer inspection under very bright spotlight I can see very light paper scuffs from sleeve removal that's all!! - easy grade as EX++ copy - comes with original Blue Factory polylined Inner Sleeve!
Labels - Nice UNDAMAGED `Blue/Black` MCA labels showing just a few spindle marks - this LP hasn`t been overplayed AT ALL!! `Made in England` credits!
Sleeve - Original 1st issue `Roger Dean` single sleeve design prone to ring wear and rubbing - this one has suffered usual fate with some ringwear and bottom edge wear, Spine however is Undamaged and clearly readable, opening shows some wear but no bad feathering (showing the LP hasnt been removed over and over!) still in decent condition but not mint - NO pen writing/NO sticker damage/NO tears etc

Important information on UK 1st issues/pressings etc – In my younger years I was involved in the manufacture, production and distribution of records. First as a musician then as a sound engineer then later working with independent record labels. I don’t claim to know everything but I do have a general understanding of pressing issues, i.e. what is a 1st or 2nd issue/pressing. A 1st issue here referred to being the very first version that the artist released (i.e sleeve design, label design etc) and 1st pressing being one of the very first batch of vinyl to be pressed and leave the factory (so in effect it is possible to have a 1st issue release and 2nd pressing disc or even 3rd issue 1st pressing)!
On the subject of 1st issues some labels/artists releases are reasonably easy to track, at least the basics are for example Led Zeppelins early UK releases were obviously on Red/Purple Atlantic labels and later replaced by Orange/Green Atlantic labels. It then comes down to discussions over slight alterations in the label text. For instance did Zep 4 come out with `Misty Mountain Top` misprint before `Misty Mountain Hop` ? (by the way I purchased it the day of release and mine was definitely printed correctly as `Misty Mountain Hop` I would guess by that `Misty Mountain Top` was probably a later label factory misprint). There are clear markers like Warners Communications starting to add their little `W` logo to their major & subsidary labels, Charisma moving from B&C to Phonogram and many more!!
However labels can `lie` take EMI`s Harvest label generally speaking in July 1971 with the release of East of Eden (Same title SHVL 792) Harvest started adding the Boxed EMI logo at 9 o’clock position to the labels and subsequently on all following releases (Deep Purple – Fireball, Pink Floyd – Meddle etc) however I have seen a copy of East of Eden without aforesaid EMI boxed logo how? Well simple, factories will use old labels if they run out to keep production going, so you could actually have a boxed version of this LP that was pressed before the unboxed one!!!
As for 1st pressing and Run out Matrix numbers a lot of emphasis can be put on A1/B1 Matrix endings, which are definitely relevant for some labels but for others A1/B1 were used for all pressings and it is then that the Mother Stamper code will tell a better story. On Phonogram releases for instance you will see 420 cropping up on the run out grooves all the time this does not identify it as a 420th pressing but is an identification number to show it was pressed at a British record plant. Remember too that often several plants (there were about 10 in the UK) were involved in pressing major releases simultaneously so establishing which is the first pressing is not always a given!!
In conclusion wherever there is an established pattern of information (i.e label colours/distributor/sleeve design etc) I will include it in my description mostly under `Rarity` heading to help establish whether it is a 1st/issue/pressing etc!!
Just a note on Grading - I always play grade my records right through and unless stated they do not jump, skip or stick when played!!! I always view the vinyl under a very bright halogen spotlight!!! Why? because although I have excellent vision when viewed under a normal light or even worse a fluorescent tube (most shops have these) the vinyl will not show up how marked it truly is - some view records in daylight but this has to be done in direct sunlight to see the hidden marks - I do this so that I can give the full picture to the best of my ability and should please even the most `critical` of collectors. Also I photograph the WHOLE of the cover (I don't cut off the corners or edge) so you can see as close as possible what you will receive!! In saying all of this I also offer a full refund on return of the item if you are still not happy!Postage/packing: I use new professional record mailers with several cardboard stiffeners to protect the cover - the record will be placed in a NEW clean inner sleeve, removed from the record cover (saves ringwear/pushing through seams) and together with original old inner placed in a NEW pvc outer sleeve - I also include recorded delivery as standard in the overall cost in the UK (70p) it covers up to £36 in case of loss - it will be optional for international packages (as it is more expensive) but still advisable! - please note complete postage charges (below) before bidding!
Payment - I am quite patient but if I have waited a couple of weeks for money and sent reminders unless there is a good reason I will claim back my fees and give a nonpaying bidder strike - I don't charge for Paypal!

Grading's
Mint : The record itself is brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
EX : The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing
VG : The record has obviously been played, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.
plus + : slightly better than grade
minus - : slightly under grade
