Implosion taps British bass boss The Bug and German dub spectre Ghost Dubs for a split LP on Martin's Pressure Sounds, inviting for-the-ages acclaim: the record navigates aching extremes of avalanchingly deep bass and mantric repetition, drawing on both artists' staple-good choices of dub techno and doom metal. A real crosshatch in sound, lead hitters like 'Alien Virus (West Indian Centre, Leeds)' bring kick-hooved dub institutional heave, like sinister plod of a WOTW Invader stalking an unpopulated West Yorkshire motorway turned wasteland. The record rolls heavy without distortion, controlled yet punishing, ploughing up influences from Roots Radics to Adrian Sherwood to deliver a dare-not-disturb dub snowdrift.
