Just a bunch of normal nary kids is the way most of their parents would describe the 38 who comprise lingame High school's prize-win- ning string orchestra The tra's latest prize is an invitation to play in the United States at the Brussels World's Fair music festival August 11 12 and 13 That is if the can raise the the trip is estimated to cost But there must something of special about these sters Take Linda Peterson for instance Linda is one of the orchestra's graduating She plans to enter (Brig)ham Young university in Prove Utah in September where she plans to study music education She would like to teach in high school but I think the greatest need for music teachers is in the she says I think the reason there are not more groups like Burlingame's is because of the lack of string teachers in the elementary schools Linda has lived in all of her 18 years She has an older brother who is married and has four children another er was killed seven years ago Her father is a postal clerk in the Burlingame post office her mother is supervisor of school lunches for the Burlingame mentary schools She has been studying the lin for nearly 10 years In high school she belonged to the Future Nurses club served on the Girl commis- sion and the Assembly commis- sion and of course the Music club Her course was college prep with a major in languages and Spanish If I had dreamed about this she laughs I would have taken ferent languages But I'm not get along if we can only get the money together.
