ON OFFER HERE IS A SERIOUSLY EARLY MONO PRESSING OF A HUGELY RARE ALBUM FROM 1967.

XEX 659-1 and XEX 660-1. MOTHER STAMPERS - 1-O and 1-M
(the M could possibly an H, it's impossible to tell but it seems more likely to be the earlier M).
EITHER WAY, IT MAKES THIS ALBUM AN INCREDIBLY EARLY FIRST PRESSING!!!

This album was the Hollies' attempt to leave the middle-of-the-road and experiment in Psychedelia. It was by far their most creative album and proved to be the pinnacle of the Clark/Hicks/Nash writing team. It was also largely responsible for their break up. It was the last album that they made before Graham Nash left the band and headed west to America and the arms of Crosby and Stills. The west coast influence is very apparent in several of the tracks.
Although heavily influenced by bands already into the psychedelic sound like the Beatles, the Byrds and the Stones, it's a fine and original album but - a bit like The Kinks 'Village Green Preservation Society' - the fans just didn't want to know and it sold like very cold cakes!
So it's very rare that one of these is seen - particularly in this sort of condition!!
The vinyl retains a beautiful 'just pressed' sheen and has no real blemish. A couple of whispy lines are all that are visible. Even under a strong light there are only some very fine spidery marks. It has to rate as one of the best looking vinyls of its era that I've seen. Visually then, a very strong (and rather harshly graded) EX.
The audio is absolutely superb!!
A slight crackle on the lead in but after that it is just clear, clean, unspoiled music with no distortion or background noise. It plays as near to new as is possible in a 43 year old record. I've bought new vinyl which sounds worse than this lovely disc! The dead wax between tracks is virtually silent and the whole listening experience is outstanding.
I would grade the audio as EX+!
I would judge from the total lack of spindle marks on the labels that this disc has hardly been on a turntable. Apart from a couple of faint fingermarks I would grade the labels as near mint!
The sleeve is in excellent condition also with no real wear to mention. There's a little feathering of the open edge and some very slight discolouration of the back. You can just make out the shape of the record, obviously where it has been stored next to others. The original EMI printed inner sleeve is also excellent with no rips or tears. One corner has been bent over but it lies almost flat now.
