Description
Up for auction is the rare Jazz LP record by Don Byrd and others, "Byrd's Eye View," Transition Records J-A, 1956, Mono.
Other artists on this album are Art Blakley, Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins and Joe Gordon.
Tracks are:
- Doug's Blues
- El Sino
- Everything Happens to Me
- Hank's Tune
- Hank's Other Tune
The record is in very good condition. Upon inspecting the record I found a wavy area on the record surface of the B side and a small pit which was probably done during the manufacturing process. However, I played the record through on both sides and it sounds perfect - no static, pops or skips. Labels are free of wear and have no stains, notations or scratches.
The album cover is in good to fair condition. The biggest flaw is that the side seam is split almost entirely. The album is such heavy cardboard that the other two seams, which have no splits, keep the record in place. There is very light wear both front and back. There is some chipping on the bottom edge. The glue on the goldenrod banner has evaporated on the left side and now lifts up. The glue residue can be felt, but not seen.
There is also a 12-page booklet with notes on the album and pictures of the artists. It measures 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. It is in good condition with exception of some light creasing on upper corner and some numbers written in ink on four of the pages.
The reserve price for this LP is $300.00.
Please e-mail me with any questions. I take checks, money orders and Paypal. Winning U.S. bidders pay $4.00 media rate shipping, which includes delivery confirmation, insurance and cost of record mailer. Airmail letter post to Canada is $5.75; to Europe $11.50 and Japan $12.75. These rates also include cost of record mailer, but not insurance. NOTE to International customers: I realize that insurance for overseas shipments is very expensive through the United States Postal Service. However, I have used another insurer who has reasonable rates. If you really desire insurance on your item, please let me know after the auction and I can give you a quote and coverage details.
