First Edition and First/Early Pressings of one of Glenn Gould's extraordinary chamber music performances perfectly paired with the eminent Jaime Laredo in sublime performances of all the J.S. Bach Sonatas for Violin and Keyboard (here piano, of course). On full display here all of Gould's inimitable keyboard interpretive skills and nuances wedded to his mature, utterly commanding, idiosyncratic but ecstatic technique. Laredo steps up as Gould's perfect, well-meshed foil, spinning out a violin line of beguiling beauty and nuance in each work. Simply astounding musicianship and with a captivating elan of individual expression and ensemble harmony hardly ever to be found or savored today. This is just fabulous Bach to be relished across the ages. This Original Columbia Masterworks 2-LP Promo set is in Just Pristine condition. After multiple play gradings, I'd call these disks impeccable, hardly played, and easily reaching beyond Near-Mint status. Both albums carry White Promo Spindle Labels. Disk Surfaces are ultra-quiet, piano and violin lines superlatively recorded, and interweaving with beguiling clarity and panache. Disks are Definitely First Edition and First/Early Pressings of the Original US Stereo issue. Disk Deadwax Machine Stamped 1D (Side 1), 1B (Side 2), 1B (Side 3), and 1C (Side 4). All sides plainly First or Early Pressings. Repeated Play Grading throughout reveals just super-quiet and clean disk surfaces with no impediments at all--superb rich, clean sound from meticulously recorded Stereo tracks in which Gould's piano shines radiantly and Laredo's sterling violin tone projects perfectly.
