Bach St Matthew Passion Klemperer UK Columbia SAX 2446 / 50
Dietrich Fisher-Dieskau, Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and an all star cast with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Otto Klemperer perform the St. Matthew Passion of J. S. Bach. A 5 record set (nine sides), this is an English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAXS 2446 – SAX 2450). The labels are blue / green with silver border and “radio waves”. The records are of excellent appearance and play and sound superb with a minimum of surface noise. The box is excellent as is the libretto.
