ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This lovely LP from His Master’s Voice (CLP 1067, UK EMI pressing, plum semi-circle label – ED1, mono – no stereo edition exists) features master pianist Gina Bachauer in a magical mixed recital, recorded in London in 1955.

This is exalted playing by any measure and Bachauer’s Gaspard de la Nuit can be spoken of in the same breath as that by Michelangeli. Her Debussy and Mompou are no less insightful, the perfect melding of an impregnable virtuoso technique and questing musicality.

There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Trevor Fischer, printed in English only. The striking cover photo of Bachauer is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is some wear and fraying to the laminate along the open edge, as well as slight bumping at corners. However, there are no onwers’ markings, seamsplits, bends, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not perfectly silent, really this is a fine copy and playback is superb, close to NM. If you must have a flawless or NM copy, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, rates as an excellent collector's copy.
