Description
Great rare classical find! This is Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E Flat Major, op. 73 (Emperor) - performed by Wilhelm Backhaus with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (VPO) under the direction of Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt. On the Decca Stereo label (SXL 2179) from the UK, this original wide band, deep groove disc is in great shape with only very light surface marks due to handling and nothing that should adversely impact play. A couple of light spindle marks. Disc has been played but played very carefully and rates an easy VG++ or slightly better. Very nice and you won't be disappointed. Comes in original laminated, fold-over outer jacket - I believe they call this the "scalloped" edge jacket as you can from the pics. Jacket is pretty nice overall and clean. Does have some shelfwear, more notable on the reverse. What you see in the pics is what you will get. Don't let this original SXL get away. Starting it low to see where it goes.
