Description
Here it is, the record that started it all for that band that is finally back together! This is the ULTRA-RARE (only about a few hundreds made) original Bad Brains first release, the "Pay to Cum / Stay Close to me" 7" produced by Jimmi Quidd and released in 1980 on Bad Brain records. It is one of the super-rare second pressing with beige labels with red lettering and comes in a plain white sleeve SIGNED BY BASSPLAYER DARRYL JENIFER (SEE PICTURES!) ! (The almost unfindable first pressing came with white/creme labels and brown lettering )! Stamped in the inner grooves is the words "Masterdisk", "(PR)" , "RL" and "MOD-001-A" on the A side and "Masterdisk", "(PR)" and "MOD-001-A" "MOD-001-B" on the B-Side. A side features the legendary "Pay to Cum" track, very intense 1:33 of pure energy and side B features the excellent 2:29 "Stay Close to Me". Labels also have the Bad Brain Records address on Gaither Street in Hilcrest Heights, Maryland (The house the band had bought there, in suburban Maryland). The first all-black punk rock bands and also one of the fastest, the Bad Brains were originaly from Washington, D.C., but had to move to New York City shortly after releasing this record since they were blacklisted by most area clubs, an event that was documented in another legendary song, "Banned in D.C. "! On this ultra-rare release, the Bad Brains were: H.R. Paul Hudson (H.R. means "Hunting Rod" and that was his childhood nickname) on vocals, his brother Earl Hudson on drums, Darryl Jenifer on bass and Gary "Dr. Know" Miller on guitar. Of course, this is a must-have for any serious punk collector!
