BANCHEE were apparently pretty big in the Boston area in the late 60's/early 70's. Their debut S/T LP is a psych collector winner. The major labels, such as ATLANTIC weren't generally well known for releasing decent psych records (though a number of well known examples exist), and there wasn't much of a buzz around this one upon it's release. But it is surely worthy of ones psych collection, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Though definitely psych influenced, the aspects of that genre are primarily subtle, witnessed mostly via substantial use of fuzz guitar throughout the album. But the main forte of their sound is built around potent vocal harmonies that beg comparison to the venerable early Crosby, Stills, and Nash, accompanied by a heavier, hard rock backing, featuring the aforementioned fuzz guitar. Some skilled complex rhythms & structures are also apparent here and there, but the overall period flavor is excellent, still containing the last vestiges of the Bosstown sound as it faded into obscurity.
Vinyl is in excellent condition
Cover is still in shrinkwrap and in great clean condition but did at some point in history suffer some damage top right corner where there is a 1.5" split
