VERY EARLY MOTOWN

This record was the start of Motown for BERRY GORDY

 

Barrett Strong - MONEY (That's what I want)

was released on Anna Records in 1959

Anna Records was established by Gwen Gordy (one of Berry's sister's), the company was named after another sister Anna Gordy (who later married Marvin Gaye)

The track was written by Berry Gordy and was a hit - this hit led Berry to establish his own label - MOTOWN - Anna Records then closed and the whole family started to work within Motown

 

The track was later released on the newly formed Motown label - so this record really was the start of early Motown exactly 50 years ago

 

The B side - OH I APOLOGIZE - was also written by Berry

Excellent condition

VERY VERY RARE

A must have for any collector - you won't see this come up for sale often!!
