This beautiful LP – a fine collector's copy – from Westminster Japan (WL 5107, Japanese pressing, original red/silver script 'Natural Balance' label, mono – no stereo edition exists, full-size Japanese language insert and Obi included) features a lovely re-issue of violinist Walter Barylli and violist Paul Doktor’s magnificent account of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat Major K. 364, accompanied by conductor Felix Prohaska and the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and recorded in the warm acoustics of the Mozartsaal, Vienna, in 1951.

Those not familiar with Japanese pressing would do well to investigate them. They often offer original artwork or, as is the case here, a perfect reproduction of the original jacket. The quality of the vinyl pressing itself is worthy of audiophile standards. Though this may not be the original Westminster LP, it undisputably delivers much smoother, and truer, sound.

Incidentally, the original liner notes by Lynn Harrus are reprinted on the reverse side of the jacket. The striking cover design is credited to Norkin.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. The only flaw barring a NM grading concerns a discreet 2” split to the top seam and a 1” crack to the spine. There is also minor bumping at corners. However, the album remains solid, bright, and extremely attractive – overall, still a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT and the playback is outstanding – a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
