Bathory - Self-Titled Debut LP (1984 Black Mark BMLP 666-1) White Goat - EX/VG
A highly collectible early copy of Bathory’s legendary self-titled debut album. This variant features the classic white logo/text layout with the red-eyed goat on the jacket. It uses the original, coveted 1984 master stampers from the first-ever press run.
Deadwax Matrix Identifiers:
Side A (Etched) - [Pentagram] 666 840905GP BMLP6661A PD-CR (see photos 9-11; hard to see, look closely; no photo for the "PD-CR")
Side B (Etched) - [Inverted Cross] 840905GP BMLP6661B PD-CR (see photos 12-14; hard to see, look closely; no photo for the "PD-CR")
While the deadwax matrix exactly matches the legendary "Yellow Goat" first pressing (which used the same master stampers and original plates marked 840905GP), the sleeve art of this listing gives away the exact second it changed. After Quorthon and the label realized the yellow ink looked bad, they switched to the white text and logo layout with the iconic red-eyed goat for the remainder of the 1984 run.
Represents the definitive, intended look of the debut album while carrying the pristine, non-remastered 1984 audio straight from the original Swedish press run.
Please note, this copy does NOT include the original lyric insert sheet.
Bathory’s self-titled 1984 debut album is a foundational masterpiece that helped create and set the primary blueprint for the entire Scandinavian black metal genre.
