1966! Brian Wilson is feverishly working on the follow up to PET SOUNDS. First, he wants to call it the "Dumb Angel", then, "SMILE"! Good Vibrations is Number One all over the world in November. Brian says the next single will be called.."Heroes and Villians". Capitol Records produces a sleeve & gives the 45 its catalogue number 5826. Then a whole bunch of problems pop up! Capitol is stealing money from The Beach Boys through loop holes in the original 1962 Contract that deals with damaged 78's!! The Boys sue Capitol. Brian says when smile is done, he might not give it to Capitol because the way they treated Pet Sounds. So, "SMILE" never comes out but the next Beach Boys single would be "Heroes and Villians". On their own imprint label! "Brother Records". Capitol sends some of the sleeves to Canada where they print the new catalogue number 1001 others are sent to Europe to be used in Holland, Sweden...and who else knows where??!! The Capitol "Heroes and Villians" PS is the only Artifact from The Beach Boys SMILE Project to get out in the world! Covers were destroyed and so were the insert books that contained pictures and lyrics for the songs! No wonder its The Beach Boys Rarest US PS books up and over $500 And probably one of the Rarest Beach Boys sleeves in the world! If you are the winner you can hold a piece of SMILE in your hands. I met Brian In Washington DC Nov. 15 2008 at The Lucky Old Sun Tour and he signed my Pet Sounds, Summer Days, and This Super Rare Picture Sleeve. Sleeve is printed in the USA and looks like all the other classic 1960's BB sleeves, with pictures of the boys on tour and Brian in the pool and at home of coarse. These pictures are all from the Smile insert book that would have come with Lp. The 45 is from Sweden, where this sleeve was sent and a Swedish pressed record was made for it. The mix on the 45 is the same as the US version.
