I am a 40+ year collector of LPs and 45s from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. All of the LPs and 45s I have listed on eBay are from my personal collection.

I have also been an audiophile for 40 years (analog only). The records listed have been play-graded on high quality equipment (turntable, tone-arm, cartridge, pre-amp, amp, speakers, and subwoofers). My system picks up the slightest surface noise on vinyl; i.e., ticks, pops, hiss, and sibilants due to groove wear. The standard I have used in adding a record to my collection has been how well it played (no surface noise present) in addition to how it looked. Over my years of collecting I have continuously upgraded my personal collection of Beatles records to where almost all of them play as new. To me, this means quiet surfaces; i.e., no ticks, pops, crackle, or hiss in the music or the dead wax.

The outer covers of LPs have been stored in polyethylene sleeve protectors since I acquired them. I have also removed the record from opened LPs to prevent seam splits.

I have used strict grading standards of the UK publication Record Collector. I hope you find something you can add to your collection and enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed vinyl records for the last 58 years.

This is The Beach Boys Pet Sounds LP in true stereo. This is the first, and only, LP that presents the Pet Sounds LP in true stereo. Prior to this LP, no stereo master tape of Pet Sounds existed. Pet Sounds was arranged, produced, recorded, and mastered by Brian Wilson in 1966 in mono only. Brian Wilson did not create a stereo mix of Pet Sounds in 1966. Any LP that claims to present Pet Sounds in true stereo prior to this 1999 release is false.

In 1966 Capitol issued Pet Sounds in two different LP formats; one in mono (as Brian Wilson intended) and a second LP using its "Duophonic" sound process. Duophonic is fake stereo. It was a pathetic attempt by Capitol to make the music from the Beach Boys' (and other Capitol artists) mono master tapes sound like stereo when no stereo master tape had been created by the artist or sound engineer. In my opinion, it was a miserable failure.

This LP presents Pet Sounds in true stereo for the first, and only, time ever. The original mono master tape was re-mixed to a stereo master tape by Brian Wilson personally. He also supervised the remastering and engineering process of this LP. This is an analog LP and was issued in 1999. The pressing run was only a few thousand, at most. It is quite rare.

I purchased this LP when it was released in 1999. I have played it once. I'm a mono guy so I prefer my DCC mono copy. That said, sonically, this is a superb pressing.... as good as Pet Sounds will ever sound in stereo. It was pressed on 180 gram vinyl and Capitol did it right (for a change).

The LP is in mint condition. It looks and plays as-new. The labels and jacket are also in mint, as-new condition. This LP has been sitting unplayed, and even unmoved, in my collection since 1999.
