The Beach Boys - Surfer Girl Autographed LP

What an amazing find! I got this in a collection of 1000+ records from an estate. The sellers said the original owner collected from the 50's through the 80's! From the looks of his collection, he was very serious about it and had good taste! All of my other auctions this week are records from that same collection, including a few other autographs.

This album was signed by all 5 Beach Boys: Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine, Carl Wilson, Mike Love and Brian Wilson. Carl and Brian's signatures were only signed as first names and are not very clear. All of the signatures look to me like they were signed at different times and during different situations. If you've ever tried to get autographs yourself, you know how hard it can be to get a nice signature!

It does not come with a Certificate of Authenticity and was not signed in front of me, so I cannont prove it to be 100% authenitc. No other signature on the market can be proven unless you have a photo of the person signing the actual item. COAs are as as easy to print out as the albums are to forge, so it's not always a sure-fire way to tell! Based on the following factors, I believe it to be authentic:

* The signatures were signed with different pens and do not have similar handwriting.
* There are no starts and stops in the flow of the writing and no wobbles in the curved parts.
* Some are slightly faded and none appear to be signed recently.

If you look at most of the other Beach Boys signatures on Ebay, you'll see very nice looking items with perfect signatures, some of which are all with the same pen. I look at these and am very skeptical that they were able to get them so nice, especially with Carl and Dennis no longer with us. I think since this item is not perfect that it adds a lot more to it's authenticity than a COA does.

The LP is a first pressing Stereo copy on Capitol Records ST 1981. The LP is VG with many light scuffs and scratches. I have graded the LP under strong lighting and have not play-tested it. It probably will not play through without problems.

The cover is made from thick cardboard and has front pasted on. The cover has some wear around the edges, corners and has a 1" split on the bottom left corner. Other than that, it is pretty clean and has no other major defects.
