Description
I am clearing out some BEATLES and BEATLES-RELATED records from my collection, so please check my other auctions for something you may want to add to your vinyl collection.
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “THAT’S MY LIFE (MY LOVE AND MY HOME)” b/w “THE NEXT TIME YOU FEEL IMPORTANT” by Freddie Lennon, father of John Lennon
· This 45 RPM Single is JERDEN RECORDS 792.
· This is a VERY RARE PROMOTIONAL COPY OF THIS SINGLE.
· As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were ONLY released to radio stations for DJ airplay, so they were produced in VERY SMALL QUANTITIES. Many were tossed out after a period of time. Plus, most DJs wrote on the covers and labels or placed stickers on them.
· This record was issued in 1965 at the height of Beatlemania.
· Although John Lennon’s father used the name “Freddie” as his name on the record label, “Alf” was the name he used in public and the name he was known by among his friends.
· It was reported that John Lennon was incredibly upset with his father for recording this record. Their relationship was a chilly one (which John saw his father’s neglect as the cause), and John saw this record as an illustration of his father’s petty desire to profit from John’s and the Beatles’ fame.
· “That’s My Life” received limited airplay. Freddie (Alf) believed that John may have played a part in that by using his influence as a Beatle to restrict airplay of this single.
· Freddie (Alf) Lennon spent many years of his life in the Merchant Marine and was rarely at home in John’s younger years; thus, the sound of waves in “That’s My Life”.
· It is interesting to note the tone and piano similarities between Freddie Lennon’s “That’s My Life” and John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
· The VINYL and LABELS are in NEAR MINT CONDITION!
· Details about this record were taken from various articles about it on the internet.
· A nice and VERY RARE Beatles/John Lennon-related PROMO RECORD in beautiful condition for YOUR vinyl collection!!!
