READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles 2-LP 1964 The Beatles’ Story Los Angeles Pressing NM!
Many rare Beatles albums still in shrink listed this week. Not this one, though.
Slap-Your-Horse’s-Buttocks-hard-to-find Los Angeles pressing with closely-spaced “STEREO” in NM condition!
Vinyl--- NM/ NM/ NM/ NM. Serious, man. It’s hard for me to bring myself to use that grade without copping out to EX on at least one side of a platter. But both of these discs look like you just pulled the shrinkwrap off in 1964.
Plates--- A3/ A3/ A3 and…A3. Respectively. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- Very nice VG+. Light ringwear on front cover, light dirtwear on the back. Inside gatefold has yellowed over nearly 60 years, but the center seam is still strong and not split. All seams and spine are muscular-strong, NO SPLITS. Very light shelfwear to bottom seam.
Breathe Holes--- N/A.
Labels--- VG+/ NM/ NM/ NM. Side 1 label has some kind of staining. See photo. I can’t tell whether that was aftermarket, or whether it’s something like uneven gloss applied. Whatever it is, it didn’t clean off with warm water.
Capitol Inner Sleeves--- Original Capitol burnt orange inner sleeves are present. First sleeve is in Excellent condition, no splits. Has a small tear at the top near the thumb tab. Second one is VG+, with one tiny ¼-inch side seam split.
In the interest of full disclosure, however; I replaced one of the sleeves, because the mate to the original sleeve had a fully split-open bottom seam when I bought it, making for a very dangerous hazard of the album dropping out on an unsuspecting buyer.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
