Here it is! The legendary and mythical Stereo Butcher Cover. Okay maybe not that rare and I wish I could pass this off as a 1st state, but I don't think too many people would believe me. Listed is a 2nd State Los Angeles rare Stereo press of The Beatles Yesterday and Today Butcher Cover. Otherwise known as "the Pasteover." As you probably know, The Beatles sold millions of copies of this album. The first 200,000 or so were recalled due to the original cover being too graphic and covered over with a last minute replacement. Of those 200,000, it is estimated that 1/10th of those were made in stereo.
Needless to say, this album is rare. What is even more rare is the condition. Most butcher covers are trashed, while a handful are found to be presentable. This cover is absolutely stunning with just a few small stains that are hardly noticeable to the naked eye and a very small split at the bottom, a small crease on the top left corner, and extremely minimal ringwear to the front and back and comes with the original inner sleeve. Even the corners are still reasonably sharp!
This is truly an investor's item as more and more Butcher Covers are being peeled every day. In fact, so many are peeled that there are several people that professionally peel them full time. That means that 2nd state unpeeled covers are literally getting more rare by the day. Who knows how many stereo Butchers remain. But one thing is for sure: very few are this nice! Definitely one to be proud of!
