Alongside the rarer “All Rights Reserved” pressings, there are half a dozen picture sleeves with stunning EX to NM 45’s for sale this week.  All are first pressings, all are your keepers.

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

These 1963 copies were pressed prior to the Ed Sullivan performance, and therefore prior to Beatlemania.  Most LA copies you will find will have the stamped asterisk in the dead wax.

I bought the sleeve for its nice condition, but was astonished to discover that the 45 is a true first pressing 1963 Los Angeles pressing.  These are the absolute hardest-to-find pressings of this single.  And when you do happen to see one, it’s in trashed condition from having been overplayed by some overzealous teenaged girl, who threw the sleeve in the trash and left the 45 on their bedroom floor for future easy access.

This copy isn’t Near Mint, but by God, it’s very close.  Certainly one of the best copies I’ve ever seen.  These 1963 copies were pressed before The Beatles had taken hold, and before they played Ed Sullivan.

Try to find one in this condition.

Vinyl: EX/EX.  Vinyl looks close to NM, with just one or two extremely light lines per side.

Plates: F1/F1.  This copy has the wide 5-pointed star in the dead wax from 1963, as opposed to the more familiar machine-stamped asterisk from 1964, making this a first pressing from Los Angeles.

Labels: NM/NM.  Shockingly, these labels look just as new as they did 63 years ago in ’63. Just some popped gloss bubbles from the manufacturer's process.  NO WEAR THAT I CAN SEE CLOSELY.

Side 2 label credits “I Saw Her Standing There” to the music publisher, “George Pincus & Sons.”  These are extremely limited.  While first pressing singles are credited to “Walter Hofer” as the publisher, the transfer from Hofer to “Gil Music” in 1964 had a very brief transition publisher, which is this Pincus credit. 

Not many of them from 1963 were pressed at all, and you will be very hard-pressed to locate one for your collection.

Sleeve:  VG+.  Straight-cut top is from the East Coast.  Lots of light finger divots and light record outdent.  Still presents EX.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

If you’ve been looking for one of these scarcest pressings as your keeper, you just found it.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
