 Here's a VERY HARD to find record for your Beatles 45 collection !! Those collectors that know the back story of these "Love Me Do" records will understand it's importance, for the one's that don't, here goes..   Beginning in February 1963, Capitol of Canada took a chance and pressed the Beatles for distribution in North America, the first company to do so. There was a limited pressing of only 1,000 records. Because the Beatles were as yet unheard of in North America, sales were poor with only about 88 being sold, appox. 250 sent to D.J.'s for air play. the rest were sent back to the Smith Falls plant for destruction.   These very first pressings were done with a stamper that had no dash or number following the "hand etched matrix" number in the run-off area. 7XCE 17144 + 7XCE 17145.     During the summer of 1963 the Beatles music had exploded and became very popular .    Capitol of Canada thought now was the right time to try again with the Beatles first record.  In January 1964 they pressed the "Love Me Do/ P.S. I Love" You again, but this time using a stamper with a -2 , as in 7XCE 17144 - 2 for Love Me Do side and 7XCE 17145 - 2 on P.S. I love You side.     The sales were so strong and songs so popular that there were a total of 7 stampers used before production was ended in late 1964..    Many of these pressings are found very easy with different stamper numbers on each sides.      This one is a true January 1964 first pressing with the stampers of -2, -2 on each side, SURELY a hard to find or come by record.   The record plays V.G.++, BUT is visually graded at V.G.-.
