Description

The Beatles -" Happy Christmas 1969" - The Beatles Seventh Fan Club Christmas Flexi-Disc.  The Beatles were the only band in history to provide their fan club's members with a new Christmas record every year. The tradition started in 1963 and continued through to their break-up in 1970. In 1970, the Beatles released, through the fan club, a long-play album that had each year's record on one album. In America, the album was titled "The Beatles Christmas Album." The British edition was titled "The Beatles Now and Then." These records were not the typical Christmas records one would expect. The Beatles doing 'Silent Night", would be too easy, and besides everyone from Elvis on down was doing this. The Beatles would record a Christmas message for their fans. The record would be pressed on a flexi-disk and mailed to the fan club members. “The Beatles Happy Christmas 1969," unlike their previous Christmas records, features individuality over the traditional group effort. Each Beatle submitted his own recorded message and the tapes were compiled to make one recording. The 1969 Beatles Christmas offering features an extensive visit with John and Yoko at their Tittenhurst Park estate, where they play "what will Santa bring me?" games. George only appears briefly, and Ringo shows up to plug his recent film, The Magic Christian. Paul sings his original ad-lib, "This is to Wish You a Merry, Merry Christmas." Starting at 1:30, at the tail-end of Ringo's song, the guitar solos from "The End" are heard, followed by Yoko interviewing John. For the only time, the American and British jackets were identical. The U.S. version of the flexi-disc has an elaborate drawing of the Beatles' faces on it. This auction is for the Beatles seventh Christmas record, Happy Christmas 1969. This is a Made In USA flexi-disc and a Printed in England jacket. The flexi is in Near Mint Minus condition. The jacket is Very Good+,  or better condition with a small crease in the upper-left  corner and some very light edge and corner wear and some light ring wear on the back side. Overall a very nice clean copy of this hard to find  Beatles Christmas flexi disc....thanks..
