Beatles A Hard Day’s Night LP Still Sealed EARLY PRESSING!
The Seal---95% shrinkwrap is intact. As can be seen in the photos, there is a strip of shrinkwrap that has been torn away. However, the mouth of the cover is still nearly completely sealed.
RIAA---The United Artists label did not use the RIAA numbers.
Cover---Due to the loss of shrinkwrap, the bottom seam has suffered a two-inch split with some slick loss and cracking. Bottom left back cover near John’s photo has some residue, which upon closer examination appears to be from scotch tape. It looks as though at one time, the previous owner had tried to tape the damaged shrinkwrap in place.
As with any sealed album, I would not by any means, guarantee which pressing is inside. The only way to do that is to open it, which you can do if you want, but I sure won’t.
If I were to venture a guess, I would say that if this isn’t a first pressing, it’s darned near. Certainly an early pressing. Based on the fact that covers from the 1960’s were of a decidedly bright red color, as this one is. Copies from 1971 and onward had changed the color to an almost brown, rather than bright red color. Also, the inner sleeve showing against the shrinkwrap is an off-white color. United Artists inner sleeves were in fact, off-white with the United Artists logo in the bottom corner when this album was originally issued. Starting in 1966, the inner sleeves were a stark blue-green color, and in 1968 or 1969, the inner sleeves were bright orange. Both of these sleeves are VERY distinctively seen in still-sealed covers from those years. By the time United Artists began using plain white inner sleeves, the covers had changed to brown backgrounds from the earlier red ones. Therefore, I’m guessing that this copy was probably pressed somewhere between 1964 and 1966.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.
