Vinyl: Very Good
The vinyl is graded as Very Good condition. Visually it looks very nice and pleasing to the eye, there isn't a whole lot to critique about it. It's free of scratches and has only minor sleeve removal hairlines / marks under strong light. It plays through from beginning to end without ever jumping or skipping and does so quite nicely. A lot of the outer groove tracks play to a Very Good + standard, however the last song on each side ("Can't Buy Me Love" & "I'll Be Back") plays through with some audible high frequency distortion on the vocals which gets a bit distracting. It's quite a shame as otherwise the rest of the LP is quite nice and it's a really enjoyable experience otherwise. With that in mind, I'd be wrong to grade the LP any higher than VG. Summing your system to mono should help clean it up a little bit, but it sounds like groove wear to me :(
Cover: Very Good -
Comes with it's original cover, an original 1964 Garrod & Lofthouse 3-flap flipback and it's in Very Good - condition. It shows a few signs of wear that I've tried to photograph, but it is still holding up alright. The biggest demerit is the photographed tear on the top rear flipback. The front panel does have some laminate wear in places and a couple of spine cracks, one that unfortunately goes through part of the spine text. Luckily it is still readable, it just doesn't present perfectly anymore. There are also some signs slight signs of yellowing / discolouration and some slight crease marks on some of the corners. It's all very nit-picky but there's also a very slight tear on the front side of the opening which seals the deal for me. If the flipbacks were fully intact, the spine text clear and the openings not as chipped away I'd have probably given this a Very Good + grade, but it all drags it down to Very Good - in my mind.
Unfortunately the original Emitex inner sleeve isn't present but the album did come with a generic 1960s paper inner and I'm also throwing in a replacement archival inner sleeve for free.
