THE BEATLES - 'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT'
1964 UK STEREO PRESS ON THE *EMBER LABEL*
Here is a highly unusual & undoubtedly unique 1964 stereo pressing of 'A Hard Days Night' which has been pressed with Ember Records labels. Of course, the big question is 'why'? The answer is unknown to me, but I would assume that it served as some kind of test pressing.
The disc itself is a genuine UK 1964 stereo pressing.
The labels are pressed onto the disc and definately not stuck over an existing label.
The disc's run-outs contains the following machine stamped details:
Matrix numbers: YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1
Stamper codes: 3/RT & 1/M
Disc weight: 165g
The side 1 label has 'A HARD DAYS NIGHT THE BEATLES' clearly written on it in pencil and as you can see in image 3, the area around the side 1 hole is slightly rough and the raised 'KT' purchase tax code is visible.
The side 2 label also has an unreadable signature above the word 'Records' and 'EMI STEREO OF THE BEATLES' in the red upper area - part which can be seen in the final image which I have lightened-up to reveal this detail.
The yellow portion of the label bears other notes/instructions including: "(held/day before pressing )'15 hours in ?? oven @130 oC, 10 mins on ??? label? at 140 o before pressing."
All of this may have been instructions for the pressing process itself. However, if anyone can shed any further light on this, please get in touch.
The disc comes without a cover and is housed within a plain white archive card sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT
As you can see, both are clean & bright overall. There are numerous spindle trails around each centre hole be no unsightly marks or any missing paper to either.
Visual: FAIR/GOOD
Although both playing surfaces are clean, they do bear many wispy hairline marks and light scratches consistent with frequent handling & play. However, there are no deep or 'feelable' marks anywhere any both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable without any dishing or warping.
Play: VERY GOOD
This rare copy has been clearly played many times but sounds much better than it looks. If you do actually decide to play it, you will hear some light background noise beneath the music but no heavy clicks, pops, jumps or any other major faults or distractions.
