Description
Please indulge me for a brief moment before reading the following description as I want to convey a sincere Thank You to all the really fantastic people (worldwide) I’ve had the great pleasure and honor to deal with. Passing on a lifelong collection can be trying at times but receiving such great feedback has made this venture a wonderful experience.
Thank You ALL.
OK, here’s a real keeper. Volume One (FIRST PRINTING) of the now famed series of books delving very deep into The Beatles own venture, Apple. “A is for Apple” Volume One is an exhaustively detailed work that leaves absolutely no stone unturned in regards to all things Apple from its initial inception to the release of Hey Jude in 1968. This behemoth of a book weighs in around 7 pounds and has nearly 500 pictures and illustrations within its nearly 700 pages. Like you I’ve amassed quite a book shelf covering all things Beatle but I must say this series takes the prize as far as 1966 and beyond in Beatle history. Even if “those books” aren’t your thing I would force this one on you. It’s like having an Apple museum in a 12” x 9” x 2” space and the pictures of all the related releases are nothing short of breathtaking, and I’m not kidding. If you haven’t been fortunate enough to examine a copy then you had better put aside about 10 hours because you will immures yourself into this book, guaranteed. We’re not talking about the same old pictures of this or that record and 45 sleeve, what is within this book’s covers are the most interesting and complete visuals of everything that Apple ever did. Records yes, but movies, publishing, production and promotion to just name a few. Letters, lost ideas and thoughts and direction changes all sorted out in one unbelievable package. I think you get the picture.
Now the “not so bad” news. When I received this book from far, far away it had been poorly packed. After contacting the publisher (great people by the way) for a possible exchange they informed me, with many apologies, that all copies had been shipped and none remained. It really wasn’t that big a deal anyway so here goes.
There are a few minor condition issues that do not affect ANY of the pages within the cover but as always I go to great lengths to point out any flaws that I can find. I live by a “do onto others” code so...
1)the front cover has a mild crease much like you would find on a creased trading card. Nothing terrible but worth pointing out
2) spine has a slight tear about half way down. No missing material and secure (See photos)
3) a few minor dings around the edges
***And now the records:
1) The Iveys CHRISTMAS RECORD (NM+)
I was fortunate enough to be within the first few hundred to order this book at the time of its first printing so that entitled me to a copy of this never issued official Apple flexi that was initially supposed to be sent to members of the Iveys Fan Club much like the Beatles Christmas Records were. It’s a really nice extra that is basically what the label says. The future Badfinger goofing around and thanking the fans for support and wishing a merry Christmas to all.
2) Jackie Lomax Emidisc demo (NM+)
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT b/w LAND OF PEOPLE
These never released demos were only available with the first printing of this book. The second printing of A is for Apple (300 that also sold out instantly) was unable to include this record due to the original agreement with Jackie Lomax so here it is in perfect condition.
(Both records were played only one time to record onto CD)
Selling a big part of my personal collection accrued over 5 decades. Will be listing a few auctions a week. Many very rare BEATLES and related items among other artists. Please check in from time to time if you are a completist like me.
The small print: Unfortunately I’ve been getting winning bidders who have no intention of paying for their won items. I must request that payment be made within 48 hours of the auction ending or at least send a simple and brief note letting me know that your payment will be made when able. I’m very flexible in that regard and I just want to know I have a sincere winner. Thank you for your understanding.
*Note for anyone bidding outside the US. Due to the extreme weight of these items shipping charges are bound to be higher then I’d like so I will refund any cost over the stated fixed charges attached to this auction. Likewise any cost over the stated fixed charges will be requested at auctions end. Basically you will pay the exact shipping to your location.*
Thank you
