Although Let it Be was the last Beatles album to be released Abbey Road was the last to be recorded. George Harrison blossomed into a major songwriter, contributing the buoyant Here Comes the Sun and the supremely melodic Something, which later became the first solo hit for the group that wasn't a Lennon-McCartney composition. The genesis of the album was a Paul McCartney suggestion to producer George Martin that the Beatles get together and make an album "just like the old days...just like we used to". The two sides are quite different in character, apparently to please both John Lennon and Paul McCartney individually - side 1 (to please Lennon) is a collection of single tracks, while side 2 (to please McCartney) contains one long medley of short compositions that segue together.

The track I Want You (She's So Heavy) is the second-longest released Beatles song (7 mins), behind Revolution (9 mins). It also features one of the earliest uses of a Moog synthesiser. The chords in Because are based on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. The song Octopus's Garden, while written by Ringo Starr, was almost totally re-written in the studio by George Harrison, but credit still went to Ringo. The climax of the album is a sixteen-minute medley, consisting of several short songs, both finished and unfinished.  Her Majesty was originally part of the medley, but Paul didn't like it so had the medley re-edited to remove it. However, an engineer placed it at the end of the medley after 20 seconds of silence. The Beatles liked this random effect and left it on the album. On some versions (like this one) the song isn't listed and so it might be considered as the first true hidden track on an album - it lasts for 23 seconds.

ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING: 

Yes – brilliant sound quality throughout! 

Unplayed vinyl does not necessarily equate with perfect audio. Even new unplayed pieces can have defects in the pressing, and any vinyl that has been in storage for 40 years can have dust penetration or even distortion to the grooves that can cause deterioration to the general sound quality, or heavy pops and clicks. This ultimate rarity record has been carefully play tested twice to give an accurate assessment of its audio performance, and it is outstanding!. 

I am pleased to say that this rare unplayed pressing plays through with great, extremely bright un disturbed audio. It really is a tremendous example that would be near impossible to better. 

I think its a mistake to ever compare a vinyl piece to a cd, but this really does have cd clarity with the sonic depth of the very best 1st press vinyl. There is not a single pop or click during the music, anywhere on the vinyl. The sound quality is as clear as vinyl can have, and it plays with incredible separation, sharpness and tonal clarity. This is an ultimate pressing of Abbey Road, and it is a simply stunning listen. 

Strong sound free of any loud pops, clicks or surface sound. The channels are clean and unstressed and there is not even a hint of distortion anywhere on the record. There is barely any light occasional static at the very start of the record and barely any (if any) after that. Any static that I could detect is extremely light, barely audible and hard to find.  The audio plays through with brilliant strong and clear sound.  

Abbey Road is a complex and varied collection of music, and is also an extremely sensitive piece of vinyl, hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn and Un worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'I Want You / She's So Heavy'. 

This pressing has super clear undistorted audio, with Super clear sound and barely any detectable background static. There is certainly no dominant  interference, and NO Distortion. It really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity!

Superb sound, every track has been tested and I could find no obvious sound blemishes at all.  Wonderful TOP audio, there is NO distortion, NO sticks or jumps what so ever, and virtual silence between the tracks. It would be hard  to ever better.

Great music with great clarity, impossible to find with this type of sound. I'll give a detailed account below:

Beginning with the classic 'Come Together' the audio is just incredible. There is virtually no  occasional static what so ever, which is pretty incredible for a 1st track on this highly collectable record. Its so clear that you can clearly hear the metronome keeping Ringo's beat, a sound that is nearly always lost with the slightest surface sound. 

There are so many variables in the audio performance, and so many quiet delicate sections. Certainly no loud pops, clicks or even tics. Barely any static during the run in grooves. Amazing.

'Something ' also has a quiet intro, and again the sound is just sensational. The Audio is flawless and  I don't not use that term lightly. Still not a single pop or click, and still virtually no static to be heard. 'Maxwells Silver Hammer' again has superb clear audio. There is virtually no static at all here. Vinyl doest come cleaner and brighter than this ! 

'Oh Darling', this track again plays with super clear audio, and still virtually no static or surface sound at all. No light pops between tracks, 'Octopus's Garden' plays with NO occasional light background static, and still that brilliant clear tonal and audio quality, as with the final classic, 'I Want You', here there is NO static at all, and there is certainly no intrusive interference. The audio is just PERECT. Flawless, but also deep, bassy and clear. An incredible performance.

Side 2. 'Here Comes The Sun' continues the musical journey, and plays superbly. No pops, no clicks, no tics, some very very light static at the start. The quiet 'Because' plays superbly, there is no detectable static. Un believable! The same goes for 'You Never Give Me your Money', the building intro, and the track plays superbly again with no real detectable light surface static. 

'Sun King' and 'Mean Mister Mustard' play with great clarity, following a very quiet clear middle section, returning to the final passages , this audio performance is concluded and this final quiet outro plays superbly. There is no static during 'Sun King', and no loud pops or clicks at all. 'Polythene Pam' plays with great clear sound, again with no pops, clicks or obvious surface sound. 'She Came in Throughout the Bathroom Window' and 'Golden Slumbers' play with great clarity, chapters audio and again a little surface static. There are a couple of static tics between the tracks only.

'Carry That Weight' and 'The End' conclude this great album, with great clear audio. There is no static during the short return of 'The End', just loud, sharp clear audio, and not a single loud pop or click throughout. 

The music jumps out, with unbelievable definition and clarity, the vocals which come through with tremendous power. Its the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. With the clear and extra loud First cut engineering giving the audio a vibrant sound which cannot be beaten. 

A supreme all round example of this classic vinyl. This is a great audio pleasure for such a rare vinyl, and I would happily give this great record a strict MINT sound grading. A great all round example of this great vinyl that I doubt could ever be bettered.

THE RECORD

A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. Deep clear grooves that can only be found on the original early pressings, this vinyl has been little played. It does have some faint hairlines, but the are very light and have virtually no effect on the sound. Unbelievable to think this vinyl is over 40 years old! 

The vinyl surfaces have only the faintest of handling marks, which can be seen under a very strong spot light. This great vinyl has been played, but carefully and shows no groove wear what so ever, as proven though the great audio delivery.

Easily grades at NEAR MINT Condition.

THE COVER

This is a great example of these rare covers.  The spines on Abbey Road are nearly always flattened, worn and un readable. This one is not flattened, and the spine is completely in tact as is the text. As these delicate covers were made out of relatively light card, they usually suffer from serious ring wear. This has barely any impression of the vinyl and NO very light ring wear. It is a museum quality example, with barely  any wear. The front and back have a lovely sheen

There is no light scuffing to the corners, and no light laminate creasing. The opening edges are very square and un frayed. The back cover is nice and clean, with no light ring wear.

A great example. All round, this is a near perfect cover! Graded at NEA MINT.   

THE LABELS 

Famous Apple labels are in great condition. All the ink is completely intact, no marks or writing, No spindle traces.

Great all round first press examples, with HER MAJESTY LISTED! Easily graded at  MINT CONDITION.

THE INNER

Original Black paper 1st press inner sleeve with one sided die cut centre. These incredibly delicate inner sleeves, the same as the ones used on the original White albums, were incredibly prone to destruction and were often discarded. This is a nice example, with NO tears at the very top, no seam splits or tears to the centre hole.

Strictly grades at  EXCELLENT PLUS condition, NO tears, NO wear at the tops. Crisp and Clean.

This rare record also comes with an original plain white Abbey Rao inner sleeve, which I thought I would also include. In NEAR MINT CONDITION.

RARITY

An Original PRESS of ABBEY ROAD in great condition is scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound. Any Original PRESS examples with a record in this type of condition, that plays great, is virtually unheard of.

The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this one is one of the better examples. Finding a Museum quality cover and vinyl with all complete first press original parts, fantastic!.

I only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance, super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
