Later covers corrected this error and have the Apple logo aligned with the text. One has to keep in mind that "later" refers to a couple of days later. Possible both cover varieties have been produced at a similar date. There's no ?Her Majesty? listed on the cover. The first version of the cover has a green tint.
First press records were housed in black inner sleeves, either completely closed, or with a die-cut circular opening on one side to expose the Apple label. The label, too, does not have ?Her Majesty? credit on Side B. Labels are quite dark, although the actual shade of green varies greatly among copies.

The record up for auction here comes with all these nice details, and is thus a very early copy of a first pressing of path-, score-, and, at the time being, all record-breaking »Abbey Road«. Four million albums sold within 18 days, more than eight months Number One in England, 83 weeks in American TopCharts, a Grammy for »Best Engineered Recording«... - to mention a few facts.

Remains to be mentioned that this copy comes with Label variation "A", meaning it has “An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines and small “33 1/3? text moved to the left side. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). Label variation "B" has what is normally the second line printed as the bottom line. Thus, “33 1/3? is the bottom line on the left side and the catalog number "PCS 7088" is bottom line on the right side.   Aesthetics: I am a Collector, hence every record is stored (and will be sent) in a sophisticated way. Original cover, inner sleeve, prospective inserts, and/or whatever may come across, are stored separated. The vinyl sits in a neutral antistatic, padded inner sleeve, which is housed in a stable, neutral hard cover. For 1st pressings I use black, everything else goes to white ones. All together, it is protected by one (or more) transparent plastic sleeves. When sending out, this package goes to a brand-new professional record mailer.   Important: There's several options that are not changeable thru eBay's posting API. Please see remarks on bottom of offer regarding payment, shipping, etc. NO RETURNS.   Visual Grading   Cover Front   EX+ Cover Back   EX+ Inner Sleeve   NM- Label Side A   NM Label Side B   NM Vinyl Side A   EX+ Vinyl Side B   EX+   Audio Grading   Side A   EX Side B   EX   Remarks   This is undoubtedly a pearl of a first pressing - not in mint condition but in a damn fantastic shape. I own virtually all releases of this title, lots of different pressings and variations from more than a dozen countries. Hence I have a good way to compare albums one to another, in particular with regard to their respective age. Having said that, please be assured that the record up for auction here is a very nice copy.

Where I think that the photos listed right after support my opinion, here's a few words on details: The cover is glossy and shiny, has neither tears, rips, cuts nor other distortions. Under certain light (I use a 75 Watts Halogen PowerPlus Diffuser Light), one may encounter some light ring wear. Powerful colors with a slight green tint as it has to be with first pressing covers of that early stage. Spine is in a top shape and completely readable. All in all I call a clear EX+.

Original black inner sleeve is in a top condition with absolutely no "sufferings". It comes with an obligatory embossed number. Verdict: NM-.
Both labels show up with a baby-clean face and a clearly Near Mint (NM).
The vinyl comes with very few hairlines, its Black looks strong and sound, which is why I grade it EX+.

The record's audio quality is superb. You'll hear some noise here and there, but nothing serious, and the sound is strong, full of spectrum, getting you the classic bass/drums Abbey-Road feeling on the spot. No jumps, skips, cracks, and it goes without saying that it plays entriely thru. Worth an EX, both sides.

Note: For a short explanation of my grading approach, please see my remarks on every listing's bottom of page.     Pictures (all pictures taken by myself from the record that is up for auction)                       More rare Collectibles ~ already on auction, or soon to come (all records 2nd, 3rd, or 4th/whatever copies from my own collection)   Brazil, 1st, rare MONO Germany, 1st, rare ZTOX Export Germany, 1st, rare Green OPX Odeon France, 1st, Red Odeon LSO MONO (!) If there is whatever question regarding this record or another one, please contact me thru eBay's message system. Also, please note that I am NOT a professional dealer, but a serious collector who possesses a huge Vintage Beatles Vinyl Collection, financed mainly by re-selling records that I own already, 2nd copies, etc. Hence I will not accept returns in case you don't like this item, no matter what the eBay boiler plate says, cos there is no way to change this option.
However, I CAN and I DO affirm that each and every detail mentioned in my descriptions is accurate and to my best knowledge and experience.
Germany, Berlin in particular, is a perfect place to acquire highly sought-after vintage vinyl. If you should have a certain interest, please don't hesitate to contact me, maybe I can help you.
  • Packing Records shipped in brand new professional record mailers. No superfluous tape, strange folding, etc. In case you win more than one record, each single one will still come in its own mailer. I do not charge for that very lavish packaging.
  • Grading Every record has been carefully graded visually by myself. Some records are audio-graded, too. I grade NMint, NM-, EX+/EX/EX-, as well as VG+/VG (VG- rarely).
  • Shipping Flat rate, Europe & International, is USD 15, for Asia & Australia USD 19. Please note that there IS nothing like "Four Dollars". I basically ship everywhere. However, I do not ship to Russia as well as all other former Eastern block countries, Italy, Greece. If you reside in Southern America, please contact me prior to bidding. Due to certain experiences of so called "non-arriving" records, signed-in, tracked shipping only. Combined shipping available upon request.
Buyers from within Germany, please don't hesitate to ask for customized shipping options.
  • Payment is expected within 48 hours upon auction end, unless differently arranged prior to bidding. PayPal NON-EU CITIZENS ONLY. I am not a dealer thus not supposed to burn earnings on fees instead of spending it on new records. EU citizens use Money Transfer. Neither checks nor cash accepted. Us-Dollars, Euro, and British Pounds OK.
