A note on mothers and stampers. Parlophone use the following coding for mothers and stampers: G R A M O P H L T D  (Gramophone Ltd) where G=1, R=2, A=3, M=4, O=5, P=6, H=7, L=8, T=9 and D=0. The ultimate early pressing of any Parlophone LP would be denoted with the codes 1/G 1/G (side 1 and side 2), where the “1” represents the first Mother (9 o’clock) and the “G” denotes the first Stamper (3 o’clock) or one of the first 300 off the press!

Features: 1969, "first label, revised cover" version: Dark green labels with a whole apple on the A-side label and a half, sliced-open apple on B-side. The labels have the "(An E.M.I. Recording)" text on two lines and "33 1/3" text centred. Publishing year printed with a small ℗ symbol. The B-side label does not have "Her Majesty" credits. The labels are quite dark.

Front cover the drain is visible in the crossing while the rear cover has the Apple logo aligned with the text, and 'Her Majesty' is not listed. 

Summary: Nice all round clean copy of this Beatles classic with crisp audio. Early press matrix YEX 749 -2 3 HDD / YEX 750 -1 8 HCT. Drain is visible in the crossing. Rear cover Apple logo aligned with the text, no 'Her Majesty' on sleeve. Original white inners. Vinyl is graded EX, light wispy lines only. Crisp clean audio – no pips, pops, clicks, jumps, stick or crackle.

Sleeve: Fully laminated sleeve in decent condition, retains its original gloss, fully readable spine, no rips, splits or writing. Light shelf rub only, graded minimum VG+ more EX- (see photos)

Label: Classic Apple labels, both clean, minimum signs of play (see photos) graded EX-

Vinyl: Retains its sheen under normal light. Closer inspection under a bright light and magnifying glass reveals light hairlines – mainly feint lines from sleeve removal. There is a larger line S1, again only visible under light, none of which affect play in anyway graded EX- to EX.

Audio: Lovely audio, plays through crisp and clean, no pips, pops, clicks, skips, sticks, jumps or crackle, graded EX (played on a Project carbon - blue 2M Ortofon)

I strictly adhere to the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide using one + or - as an additional guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
