This Beatles box set has had two owners since 1980 – me, and the guy I bought it from. He had originally bought it brand new in 1980 in South Africa as an investment, and the LPs in this blue box set have NEVER been played. In fact the original owner never had a turntable, as he had bought three box sets: Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and The Beatles, purely as investments only. 18 years later, in 1998, I bought this Beatles box set from him as part of a deal for some Coke memorabilia. He was more into collecting Coca-Cola items than record collecting, so he had kept it locked away in a cupboard for all those years. In the 19 years I’ve owned the box set, the LPs have stayed inside the box and also never been played. So if you want to own (and experience) a virtually mint collection of the famous Beatles Blue Box from over 37 years ago, this is the real deal. The blue box itself has one or two minor scuff marks, as well as a mark where the price tag used to be (see pictures), but the rest of the box is in very good condition ie: no distortion, bends, etc. More importantly, it’s what’s inside that will make you drool. The beauty of the Blue Box set is that it contains all the famous albums of the Beatles, from Please Please Me, to Let It Be. The famous 4 x photos, poster, etc are in the LP covers as well.
The Blue Box is much revered because it contains good pressings of the original 12 Beatles albums in one fell swoop. The BC-13 blue box was cut from the original UK stampers, so you would be getting virtually the same sound as the original individual UK Beatles album pressings.
