Notes: Cover has minor ring wear on front and back, corner dings, a three inch seam split at the top edge and an end-to-end seam split at the bottom edge (see photos).

NOTES: Very rare copy of the Beatles' infamous "Butcher Cover" album. I have been on the lookout for one of these for some time. Now that I found one (at a yard sale no less!), I was hoping to peel the "trunk" slick and display a framed "Butcher" cover in my music room. However, after a bit of research, I can honestly say I am afraid of ruining it by attempting to peel it myself. This is a very long, risky, and complicated process from what I can gather from this informative article:.

I guess I will go back out on the hunt (I never stop record hunting!) in the hopes of someday finding a 1st state copy without the pasted over cover. You can see in the photos that there is a tiny section in the upper right hand corner where the "Butcher" cover is showing from under the pasted over "trunk" slick. This copy is a great candidate for peeling and framing. After a successful peel job, the following issues would not show after the cover is framed:

Bottom edge seam is split from end-to-end.

Top edge has a three inch seam split in the upper right hand corner.

All edges and corners are dinged, worn, and frayed in the places where there are no seam splits.

This copy has a number 5 in the bottom corner indicated Los Angeles as the place of manufacture for this copy. According to the article, the glue used to paste over the "Butcher" cover on this copy is alcohol soluble and more easily peeled than some other copies. I cannot verify this claim as I have never attempted this process myself.
