Beatles Can’t Buy Me Love/You Can’t Do That Rare Picture Sleeve & 45 RPM Record

I’m putting up for auction more BEATLES PICTURE SLEEVES & MATCHING 45 RPM RECORDS that I’ve had for many years. So, if you want to begin a collection of Beatles Singles Picture Sleeves, you may want to check out my other auctions, too.

In this auction is 1 Beatles Picture Sleeve with 1 Beatles original Capitol (orange-yellow swirl label) 45 RPM record.

Here are the details:

·        “CAN’T BUY ME LOVE” b/w “YOU CAN’T DO THAT” by The Beatles 

·       This is Capitol Records 5150.

·       This record was issued March 16, 1964. 

·       The PICTURE SLEEVE is in STRONG VG CONDITION. As you can see, there is some writing on the “Can't Buy Me Love” side of the sleeve. “Paul” is written very small and lightly on his jacket. “Ringo” is written on his shoulder. “John” is written to the left of his collar. “George” is written on his shoulder. He must have been the favorite because some previous owner circled his head and shoulder. All writing is in black ballpoint. There is VERY SLIGHT disk impression. There is NO RING WEAR. There are 2 staple holes at the top left corner (of the “Can't Buy Me Love” side of the sleeve that also appear at the top right corner on the other side of the sleeve. There is a tiny stain beside the “T” in “CAN’T”. The sleeve is mostly a flat sleeve. There are NO TEARS, and there are NO SEAM SPLITS!!!   

·       This sleeve has a straight cut top. (All tab-cut sleeves are counterfeit.)

·       According to Perry Cox, this sleeve would be graded VG. He describes VG as: “The cover or sleeve may have tight corners. One of the seams may be split up to half the length of the seam. The others may be split only as described for VG+ grade. These seams may be repaired with tape, which is not yellowing. Ring wear may be evident, and such wear may make a completed ring. There may be several corner folds, which may have creased. There may be writing and/or erasures, but the cover is not torn and still looks reasonably attractive. Non-company stickers may appear. The cover may be folded incorrectly.”

·       The sleeve has some points that grade higher than VG such as NO seam splits and NO ring wear. For these reasons, I have graded it as STRONG VG CONDITION.

·       The primary reason I have not graded the sleeve as VG+ is due to the fact that with a VG+ sleeve, according to Cox, there can be “no obtrusive writing”. While the names written on the Beatles’ clothing may not be considered obtrusive, I feel the circle drawn around George would be considered to be “obtrusive”.    

·       The VINYL is in VG to Weak VG+ CONDITION with some light surface hairlines/scuffs and slight wear on the label.

·       NOTE: This is NOT a counterfeit sleeve. It is an ORIGINAL SLEEVE.

As you probably know, this SLEEVE is VERY HARD-TO-FIND in ANY condition. If you can’t afford a Near Mint copy, perhaps this one is the one for you (if you are the high bidder)!
